Workers are fixing a pothole outside my house and they had to stop multiple times because it began to rain. A paradox of mine is I hate the smell of an asphalt roads being laid, but I am also fond of the smell of rain hitting asphalt. During my urban sojourns, it was a sign of a respite from the summer heat. Both these experiences are unique to the modern world and drew me to the photography of Franco Fontana’s asfalti. He is famously known for his abstract landscapes, and is considered the inventor the photographic line referred to as the concept of line.
His motto is the purpose of art is to make visible the invisible. I find that his body of work really exemplifies this. He is not condoning the natural world being slowly paved over, but that the lesson is to look for the hidden geometry that pulls our eyes and possible defines what we consider beautiful or not.
P.S. Please share.
Aries – Three of Swords
The Three of Swords continues the theme from the Moon card last week. This week this card advises to continue working with only three of the hidden thoughts you have discovered. This card also advises that these beliefs be not only removed but destroyed. They are based in negative triggers placed in your thought patterns by others.
Taurus – Eight of Wands
Messages are the theme for this week. Keep your eyes and mind open. There is a lot of important information coming at you that you will need in the near future. Be the sponge.
Gemini – Ace of Cups
The theme of Temperance and moderation shifts to the Ace of Cups this week. Aces foretell that this is a great week to start something new, and the Cup stands for, no matter what project or person you bring into your life make sure that they support your heart.
Cancer – Ten of Cups
The Ten of Cups continues Judgment’s advice to evolve. However this card says that you forgot the emotional/heart part of your journey. Take this week to bring in or support the components that bring you joy.
Leo – Knight of Swords
The Knight of Swords is the card that warns you that you are moving through this world too fast. This week slow down, and take in the world around you. Also, be careful with your extremities. When this card shows up, accidents can happen like twisted ankles, bruised knees/elbows, stubbed toes or cut fingers.
Virgo – Nine of Swords
The Nine of Swords is the card of worry. The only way to work with this card is to let go of worries you cannot solve. I suggest you write a list of your worries that have no solution or have not happened yet and store that paper away. Then you can look at those worries next week with a newer perspective.
*Libra – Fool
The Fool card is the card of adventure, travel and the path least taken. Remember the metaphorical side roads from last week? This week take the literally ones. Fun awaits.
Scorpio – Ace of Swords
The Ace of Swords advises you to learn new ways to communicate your wants, needs, and thoughts. When this Ace shows up a new perspective or way of thought is needed on the horizon, so practicing this new communication or thought process now will help you in the near future.
*Sagittarius – Judgment
This week is time for evolving, Sagittarius. Well, on a practical note this could just look like making sure your judgment is sound, but for some of you, this week will feel life-changing. The challenge for both, though you will feel empowered to judge or climb the evolutionary tree, is to be flexible in your thoughts. This is about shifting or creating a new paradigm.
*Capricorn – Devil
OK Capricorn this is your third higher arcane card. So first I want you to stop and really see that you are at a pivotal moment in your life. The past two weeks Empress challenged you to turn on your sensual mojo, and Strength wanted you to see that your ooey-gooey center is just as important in making you strong as the sensible, scaly and horned outer self. This week one of your life-karma cards, the Devil, prances in. The Devil challenges you right before you have a break through or to make sure you are committed to your path. So this week your challenge is to thwart things/people (including yourself) that tempt you from growing and seeing how creative, loving and strong this new you is becoming.
Aquarius – King of Swords
The King of Swords is the protector card. This week shore up the relationships and projects that you feel need protecting. This is more about communicating the safety and security you can provide then acting on it. The only challenge when communicating is to not come off too sharp, as they say the pen is mightier than the sword.
Pisces – Page of Wands
The Page of Wands is the card of passion, not the sexy kind of passion but the awe-inspiring kind. When this card shows up, it tells you that you need more AWE in your life, so you can flip the switch from hopelessness to hope. For example go to a museum, do art, watch TED talks, or get out in nature. These things prove that life and being human is amazing and beautiful. It is time to light the match.
May light be on you, around you, and within you,
Nina
