I miss albums. I’m not an audiophile. I miss the art work. And having the lyrics printed out, so I could sing along. These two albums have hung on my wall for the past 17 years. I think modern albums covers come in four categories: the portrait, the photograph, minimal design, and then painted or illustrated art. Personally, I love a good portrait.
Albums originally just had plain sleeves on them. Then in 1938, Columbia Records hired Alex Steinweiss as its first art director. He is credited with inventing the concept of album covers and cover art, replacing the plain covers used before. Two years later all the major recording companies had their own colorful covers. I have attached some album cover art and music that may or may not align with your reading.
P.S. Remember, when signs have * it’s a big week for you.
Aries – Five of Cups – This week the Five of Cups challenges you not to cry over spilt milk. So, this can be literal as in spilled liquids or the metaphorical milk. Either way finds the positive aspects this week, carry those into your future and walk away from the rest. Dixie Cups
*Taurus – The Moon – Last week did you accept the challenge to get into your Zen spot (grounded and non-judgmental) and let the chaos glide over you or interact with it playfully? I hope so because you will need that grounding this week with The Moon card. The Moon astrologically (and therefore your emotions) this week start out balanced. By mid -week the chaos begins and by the end of the week you might feel like you need to run away and find some space. So that grounding exercise from last week will be very useful in getting through the roller coaster of emotions this week. The challenge with The Moon is that you need to feel those emotions. Those feelings have clues to what you need and what you don’t want in your life. Pink Floyd
*Gemini – The Magician – Last week The Ace of Wands challenged you to be open and grasp on to new ideas, tools and opportunities that seemed to come out of nowhere. Well, I hope you did because The Magician is here to help you conjure up some amazing things. The Magician’s lesson is to see that you have all the tools you need. His challenge is to start creating something magical to advance your goals. Blue Oyster Cult
*Cancer – Temperance – This is a lovely card for your birthday month. First, I always read this card as the guardian card. It means that you have a “changing of the guard” so to say with your guardian(s) or to reconnect to them. So Temperance asks you – who or what are your guardian(s)? A good exercise this week is to imagine, draw, and/or write about your guardian(s). It will help you gain some strength. Second, Temperance also means the combining of two things together to make something stronger. This can be as simple as putting all your to-do lists in one place or as complex as making sure what you are doing is making you a stronger and better person. The CharFlies
Leo – Three of Swords – You had three big cards in a row. Judgment, twice, with its “can’t control everything” and the Hermit’s “to find solitude when you can.” It has been a bit hairy for you to do this with all that is going on in your environment. The Three of Swords shows up this week to have you simplify and focus on the blocks that you are having around control and finding peace of mind. The Three of Swords’ challenge is to find three and only three very simple blocks and to see what you can do to get rid of them or at the very least find a detour around them. I can tell you this: One of the blocks is that you are making it more complex than necessary. Joy Division
Virgo – King of Pentacles –Last week did you all start making the big change you want to happen? Well, the King of Pentacles has come to help. All court cards they can be people, so the King of Pentacles can be a person who is here to help you get things rolling. Also, the King of Pentacles lesson is to see and believe in that master builder who lives inside your own head. The challenge being that to keep things moving it is all up to you. B B King
Libra – Ace of Swords – Two Aces in a row. So just to highlight aces, they mean new beginnings. Last week the new beginning was with your emotions. This week it is with your thoughts. This is a great week to spend some time with your mind, to problem solve, and to learn new things. The only challenge with the Ace of Swords is not to get so focused you don’t see all the options. Motorhead
Scorpio – Queen of Swords – The Queen of Swords is here to help you strategize what needs to be done. This week is a great time to write to-do lists, gather information or tools you will need, and prioritize your work. The court cards always mean that there is help out there for you if you need it. The challenge with the Queen of Swords is to take the “bite” out of your straight forwardness and honesty when communicating. Queen
Sagittarius – Five of Pentacles – This week there will be a bit less smooth sailing than last week, mostly because you will not have all the resources you need this week. There are two ways you can go about navigating this. Either re-examine the project and do a major overhaul or just sit back and wait till next week to get what you need.
Capricorn –Nine of Swords – This week take it easy. The Nine of Swords’ lesson is that if you push too hard your body and/or mind is going to feel the strain. So the challenge this week is try to get a good night’s sleep, eat well, take your vitamins and don’t push it. Velvet Underground
Aquarius – Queen of Wands and Three of Swords – So this is a two card week. First for the Three of Swords – this week there are going to be three problems to figure out. How to do deal with them is with the Queen of Wands. The Queen of Wands’ lesson is to stand back and watch the situation before stepping in to fix it. She is the Queen of Zen. Her advice is to sit back and watch the situation, gain perspective then join in when there is a lull and you have a good idea of where you want to go. Grace Jones
*Pisces – Empress – Last week the Queen of Cups challenged you to find the joy in your life with friends and cool libations. This Week the Empress (her big sister) is here to continue the trend. Except the Empress ups the ante by asking the question: what can you create to increase the joy, love and comfort in your life? So this week’s challenge is not only about enjoying life but adding to it. Santana
