Minneapolis is home to the Minneapolis Sculpture garden where the above Spoonbridge and Cherry is the center piece. In my research I found a website of the Smithsonian American Art Museum called Save Outdoor Sculpture! –SOS! ,and I found that Minneapolis has a lot more hidden sculptures. This volunteer-based program’s mission is to preserve and celebrate America’s outdoor sculptures. Nearly 7,000 volunteers are collecting information about the history and condition of their communities public sculptures, and they have found many of them to be at risk. SOS! works with individuals and groups to document, restore and educate people about these free public artworks.
Not only does this site encourage us to document public sculptures and help find resources to conserve your communities’ sculptures, but it has an amazing data base of really cool sculptures all over the world to discover. I suggest to you this spring go discover or rediscover the public art in your community.
P.S. I have attached some of the sculptures of Minneapolis to your tarotcast. Remember, signs with * it’s a big week for you.
Aries – Ace of Swords – The Ace of Swords is challenging you to change your mind. This could be accomplished by learning something new, changing an old thought, or changing your stance on something. With any of these choices you will gain a new perspective on how you think.
Taurus – Seven of Swords – The Seven of Swords’ lesson is around regrouping. This continues the theme from last week to recognize what you have accomplished in the past three months. Last week it was time to celebrate and continue your work. This week is all about stepping back to tally and restock your resources.
Gemini – Nine of Cups – The Nine of Cups continues the lesson about working with your emotions to ground yourself. However, where last week you were challenged to feel your emotions with a clinical distance, this week is about working with your emotions as if they were your closest friends. In other words, stop turning away from your emotions and embrace them all.
Cancer – Five of Wands – The Five of Wands’ lesson is how to deal with life’s waves of chaos. There are two ways to go about dealing with a wave: either ride the crest or dive under it. Also, stay away from any competition this week even if it looks playful. Remember rule #1 when surfing – don’t drop in on another surfer – one surfer per wave.
Leo – Knight of Cups – Last week, the World card asked you to let go of the idea that the world has to stay the same and to be open to new opportunities or solutions or to look again at old ones. This week, switch your gaze from the material plane to the emotional one. This week is all about spreading the love. Just as Otis suggests, try a little tenderness.
Virgo – Four of Pentacles – The Four of Pentacles’ lesson is around prudence. The challenge is to find that sweet spot between being cautious about your material world – money, work, time, resources – without turning selfish or holding on too tightly. Take some advice from an anime show, Full Metal Alchemist: alchemy is a science so it must follow the natural laws: to create, something of equal value must be lost.
*Libra – World – Last week, Justice challenged your intuition to weigh and balance the pros and cons of a situation in order to determine a fair consequence or result. This week the World wants you to practice with your intuition again. This card challenges you to knock on and walk through as many new doors as you can, and once inside use your intuition to determine whether to stay or turn around and walk out. This can be accomplished by doing something as simple as trying out new restaurant or going speed dating or something as complex as looking around for a new job or place to live. The World is not asking you to commit to anything, just to try it on for size.
Scorpio – Three of Pentacles – You get a break from the last two weeks, with the Judgment card of revelation and evolution and The Magician’s challenge to you to use your tools correctly. The Three of Pentacles is asking you to spend this week getting grounded and comfortable with all that you have learned during the last 3 months. Then you can stick your head back into the clouds and dream.
*Sagittarius – Emperor – The concept of “ruling” continues with the Emperor this week. Your challenge is to up that ante again. The Emperor continues your current lesson in learning how to rule your roost with a sense of purpose. The four big questions the Emperor asks are: What do you want to accomplish? Who do you want to help out? Who can help you out? What is your time table? Once you answer these questions for yourself, stick to the plan. The Emperor warns you not to spread yourself out too thin or you will not effectively take care of any of it. Remember, Rome was not built in a day.
Capricorn – Ace of Swords – The Ace of Swords invites you to contemplate what you conquer next and how the “conflict” of the past has prepared you for the future for another week. The Ace of Swords suggests this be a week of thinking and strategizing. Interestingly, the Ace of Swords asks us to mentally traverse a variety of roads towards completion of a goal. Remember that aces are beginnings and swords are thoughts, so nothing is set in stone.
*Aquarius – Death – This week Death is here for you to acknowledge the natural end of something and prep the ground for the beginning of something new. This can look as simple as cleaning out your closet so you can get some new clothes, weeding your garden so you can plant new plants or as complex as ending a project to make way for a new one. Death’s reminder to you is to gratefully acknowledge this ending because it is the fertilizer for the new to grow.
Pisces – Nine of Pentacles – The balancing act of healthy self-indulgence and work continues this week with the Nine of Pentacles. The only difference is that the Nine of Pentacles recommends you do it solo. You need time to recuperate in your secret garden. If you can get away with working from home, try to. If you can’t, then ask for some solo time when you can hang out by yourself and indulge in some pondering, some puttering, a glass of something, and some quiet hammock or couch time.
May light be on you, around you, and within you,
Nina
