I like synchronicity in my life. It leads to my some pretty fantastical places and ponderings. This past week it has been around dinosaurs. Above is a picture of feathers that cover part of a dinosaur’s tail preserved in amber around 99 million years ago. Lida Xing found it in a market in Myanmar(Burma). A study done by Lida Xing and colleagues from Canada and the UK recently micro-CT scan on this piece to reveal how these delicate feathers cover a dinosaurs spine. Even though scientists have found other impressions of feathers in fossils and amber, this is the first time to find feathers attached to the spine they came from. (Current Biology)
Then I read an article in the August issue of the Smithsonian about notorious aristocrat from Transylvania, Baron Franz Nopsca von Felso-Szilvas. One of his many contributions at the turn of 1900’s was that he was the first to theorize that birds were descend from dinosaurs. Later while “rabbit holing” down the internet I found my favorite artist for this week, Darren Pearson. He uses long-exposure photography to get these light paintings of dinosaurs and other cool images.
Not sure if these synchronistic stumblings are profoundly connected, except in the fact that they are all real cool things that people do. And that life is a continuum that connects time and space.
P.S. If you need a stocking stuffer or “woo woo” holiday gift, I do gift certificates for my tarot readings. And, I have added links at the bottom for holiday gift ideas from a few artists and shops I love.
P.P.S Remember, when signs have * it’s a big week for you. I have added photos from artist Darren Pearson.
Aries – Ten of Cups – The Ten of Cups’ lessons are about celebrating and being joyful. This is a week to keep that energy flowing. Take in the joy by driving to see the neighbor’s Christmas lights. Then spread the love out by baking cookies and give them to your postman. This card is challenging you to enjoy this season and then spread it around. Remember, love is a multiplier not a divider.
Taurus – Page of Wands – The Page of Wands represents enthusiasm in the tarot deck. This week this Page is challenging you to do things that spark your passion. This is a week of experimentation and fun. Remember when you were a kid having a blast and spending most of the day building a fort, and then ended up playing in it for only an hour more because it stopped being fun? Enthusiasm is way more fun when you are building something. Have at it.
Gemini – King of Wands – The King of Wands’ challenge is to do what you love to do. Find time this week to start writing that book, make music, make art, build something, or cooking something amazing. The King of Wands is begging you to love how you live and live doing what you love.
Cancer – Four of Wands – The Four of Wands means happy home. This is a big card for Cancers. Your home is place where you recoup from the World. So take this week to make you house feel cozy. Light candles, put up extra Christmas lights, get out the Menorah, add extra pillows to the couch. Make your home into something that lightens you when you walk in the door.
Leo – Eight of Wands – This is your second week of Eights, so let’s step back and look at eights in general. Eight means to look at the world around you and see how it effects you. Last week the focus was emotional habits and baggage. This week your sights go to messages that come from the world. Your challenge is can you gather and filter the important information from the junk mail. Look to synchronicities this week to help you sort your “mail.”
Virgo – Ace of Swords – Good job, you all did some work on your broken records, because this week you got the Ace of Swords. This Ace means new thoughts. The Ace of Swords is asking what do you want your New Year’s mantra to be? Spend this week looking around at sayings, mantras, or quotes that inspire you. Then hone it down to a mantra that is uniquely yours. For inspiration watch this interview with DJ Khaled on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.
*Libra – Strength – Last week, The Hangman card asked you to stop and look within. The trend continues with the Strength card. So though things are becoming a less blocked this week, you will still need to practice patience. The Strength card is challenging you to continue looking within and slowing down. You need to charge up your batteries for the near future. So rev up slowly this week and conserve your strength.
*Scorpio – The Chariot – The Devil’s challenge of “Don’t let the your devil or the devil in others, take you off course” continues this week. However, without the temptation from others, for you are now the only one holding the reins. The Chariot’s lessons are around balance and forward movement. Your challenge from The Chariot can look as complex as figuring out why you keep getting distracted or as simple as checking the pressure in your car’s tires.
Sagittarius – Ten of Pentacles – Last week, your only challenge was to keep your ears and eyes open to your messages even when you have to slug through all the junk mail. It seems you all have hit some gold. The Ten of Pentacles means that you have a good idea of what you need to have a more productive lucrative new year. And if you use the messages you got from last week, you can, as per usually for you all, get ahead of the game.
Capricorn – Ten of Wands – This week you need to lay your burdens down. Yes there is a lot to do but you only have so much time and energy in a day. I know this is a hard lesson for you Capricorns. You all are like “well I can do it so why shouldn’t I?” Yes, you can but the big question from the Ten of Wands is Why? It should be for a better reason then just “you can”, or that cross you all are carrying around is going to break your back.
Aquarius – Five of Wands – Last week, The Nine of Wands advised you to check items off your to do list, prioritize, and do some short range planning. And the reason why is this week the Five of Wands predicts chaos. This can come in the form of not finding parking spaces, roads will be blocked, or you won’t be able to find your keys or phone charger. This week will go more smoothly if you did the prep, because you will have the time for life’s chaos. If you did not do last week prep, well breathe in, this week is a lesson in patience.
Pisces – Seven of Swords – This is a week of small victories. One of Seven of Swords’ lesson is that the mountain gets moved one stone at a time. Take time this week to see how far you have come since last year. The mountains of last year are now more surmountable hills.
May light be on you, around you, and within you,
Nina
