This week’s artist is Josef Florian Krichbaum. The definition of quirky is characterized by peculiar or unexpected traits. Quirky is exactly what I love about JFK’s art. Each painting has something unexpected, a twist of a foot, a dog looking directly at the viewer with a paw in mid-step, or the theme of over-sized headdress. There is a sense of awkwardness but also a sense of joy. In short his paintings make me smile.
Quirkiness or more precisely a joyful unexpectedness is what makes me smile in my own life. An unexpected outcome is the part of what makes a good joke. Or unexpected scenarios bring joy – like when a child hugs you “just cuz”, your partner gives you a hand-picked flower, a dragonfly sits upon your toe, or even a stranger says Hi.
The unexpectedness, good or bad, seems to give things more energy. Hence, we try to control the unexpected bad by doing what is expected or planning every moment of our lives. However, this over planning and social conformity stops us from having moments of unexpected joy and creates shame for our own quirks. I challenge you to allow and highlight the quirky or unexpected joy in your life. Whether that is spontaneously doing something joyfully unexpected, or proudly let your freak flag unfurl. I expect that this will make you smile.
P.S. Please share. I’ve add more works from Josef Krichbaum and please go to his website his sketches are also so cool. Also, I have add quotes to your forecast and put up another quote to download for your vision board. Enjoy.
Aries – Two of Cups
Last week the Magician challenged you to experiment and see that the key to success are learning and building on your mistakes. This week continues that theme with the focus shifting to relationships. The solution is not so much learning from past mistakes but finding new ways to connect. Remember unconditional love is to truly seeing and saying I like you just the way you are – Mister Rodgers.
Taurus – Queen of Wands
The Queen of Wands embodies spiritual creativity. Your challenge is being mindful of what you create. She asks- What are you communicating with your creation? Will it improve the world? That challenge is daunting unless you remember the quote from Mother Theresa- I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples.
Gemini – Knight of Swords
The Knight of Swords reminds you that it takes determination to get through this week in one piece. Here is the challenge – realize that determination is different than getting something done or ripping off a BandAid. Determination is fueled by your passion not speed. Whatever you do, do with determination. You have one life to live; do your work with passion and give your best. Whether you want to be a chef, doctor, actor, or a mother, be passionate to get the best result. – Alia Bhatt
Cancer – Ten of Rods and Two of Cups.
These two cards are interesting together. You will be pulled to be social this week; however, at times you would like to just escape. The best way to deal with this is to take the Two of Cups advice. Be social only with people that truly love you and do it in small doses or one person at a time. This will give you the connection you need without feeling overwhelmed. The spiritual path is not a solo endeavor. In fact, the very notion of a self who is trying to free her/himself is a delusion. We are in it together and the company of spiritual friends helps us realize our interconnectedness. – Tara Brach
Leo – King of Wands
Last week the Wheel challenged you to engage in the variety of opportunities without putting all you faith in one basket or outcome. This week the King of Wands wants you to take at least a couple of those opportunities to the next level. The challenge with this card is you feel to honestly do something it needs to be perfect; however, this week it is more about trying out new things/ideas/solutions. Your perfectionism is getting in the way of problem solving. Perfection is born of imperfection.― Richie Norton
Virgo – King of Cups
The King of Cups is the family card. Take this week to connect and dive deeper with the people that you consider family. Not only will you find that, they needed the connection but so do you. The bond that links your true family is not one of blood, but of respect and joy in each other’s life. – Richard Bach
*Libra – Emperor
Last week, hopefully, you took time off because this week is demanding your attention with the Emperor. The Emperor is the card of getting things done. The challenge with this card is taming and then focusing this energy into projects. The best way to work this week is to start with a To-Do list. It is not enough to be busy… The question is: what are we busy about? ~ Henry David Thoreau
Scorpio – Ten of Pentacles
Last week, Temperance challenged you to be moderate and take the time actually needed to complete your tasks. The Ten of Pentacles continues this theme. Your challenge is see the productivity does not always equal a job well done. In a society that judges self-worth on productivity, it’s no wonder we fall prey to the misconception that the more we do, the more we’re worth” ~ Ellen Sue Stern
Sagittarius – Seven of Swords
This week the Seven of Swords warns you to watch your impulsiveness. Think before you speak or act this week. You might be hurting people without realizing it. Everything you say should be true, but everything true should not be said.- Voltaire
Capricorn – King of Swords
The King of Swords is the ruler of the intellect and communication. This week take time to enhance your mind with deep thoughts, and/or improve your skills in communication. By the end of the week you should feel and sound more knowledgeable. Think before you speak, Read before you think. -Fran Lebowitz
Aquarius – Page of Pentacles
Last week, the Justice card challenged you to take the long view with what is going on and to keep your emotions off the scale during this process. The Page of Pentacles continues this theme but with the action of doing some research before acting. The Page of Pentacles is the card of the student, so it is beneficial this week to learn some new tricks. I am learning all the time. The tombstone will be my diploma. -Eartha Kitt
*Pisces – Justice
The Justice card declares all things will end up fair in the end. Your challenge is to have faith that in the long view it will. So complex or simply, this week you will need to have integrity, be fair, and be responsible for your actions or inaction. If you do this, the weeks ahead will be a lot smoother. The greatness of a man is not how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively. – Bob Marley
May light be on you, around you, and within you,
Nina
