What personal data we collect and why we collect it

I collect your first name and email which have been voluntarily submitted by you and IP address each time you:

  • Subscribe to my blog
  • Fill out contact form on my website
  • Purchase a product or service from my website

Comments (I don’t have this option but good info to know)

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

These cookies collect information about how you use my site (in an anonymous form) so I can see what pages are most popular, how visitors find my site, etc. I use this info to improve my site and create content that will be of interest to my readers.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Newsletter/blog subscriptions: I keep your name/email on file until you opt out by unsubscribing (you can unsubscribe anytime by clicking on the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of my newsletter).

*Once you unsubscribe from a mailing list, you will no longer get email from me, but your name/email/IP address is still retained for up to 3 months, after which I delete all unsubscribed emails/names/IP’s.

Purchasing a product: If you’ve purchased a product or service, I will keep your name/email on file indefinitely.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Keeping your data safe is important to me.  My site is encrypted to enhance privacy and security.  And I do not allow comments on my blog to further enhance the security(another door hackers can get into.)

Unfortunately no data transmitted over the internet is 100% secure.  While I take measures to keep your data safe and secure, I (Nina Baldwin) cannot ensure the security of any personal data transmitted via the internet.  When you transmit data via my website(thefoxandthetarot.com) you do so at your own risk.

You agree that I (Nina Baldwin) am not responsible for any intercepted information shared through my site without my permission or knowledge.  Additionally, you release me from any and all claims arising out of or related to the use of such intercepted information in any unauthorized manner.

These third parties include Mailchimp, and Bluehost. These trusted third parties agree to keep this information secure and confidential. What automated decision making and/or profiling we do with user data

The personal data I collect (which you have voluntarily submitted) such as name and email, is used to communicate with you (ie: sending newsletters). The other anonymous data I collect via WordPress Analytics is used to improve my site and services.
