David Bowie died this past week and it has made me very retrospective about life, death, and time. We are only given a certain amount of time on Earth. And we are given the choice on how we spend it and who we spend it with. For a wide variety of reasons he is my idol, hero and muse, but the one that stands above the rest is his humanness. To me Bowie represented a person who really loved- living, creating, making mistakes, challenging himself and in doing so, challenges others to do more. Was he perfect -absolutely not- but he was very human. And I feel, luckily, I shared his investigation of life through his music and art. In honor of his life, I have added a David Bowie song to each sign. I hope my tarotcast enlightens you to see your own idols, heroes and muses in others and yourself.
Reminder: Mercury retrograde is still on till January 25. Mercury in retrograde is related to snafus in communication, interaction with our surroundings, mixed messages and cosmic redos.
P.S. Remember signs that have * it’s a big week for you.
Aries – Nine of Pentacles- This week you have every right to sneak away into your secret place and do whatever you want. I guarantee you Aries, if you do, you will grow something magical. Song: “Sound and Vision” – Low
Taurus – Seven o Cups- Imagination is the name of the game this week. It is a great time to think of new projects and experimentations. So here is a challenge for you if you are stuck. Try the Cut-Up Technique-Take any writing- an newspaper article, your journal, and/or a page from an old book- cut them up into words and/or sentences put them all in a bag. Then pull out seven pieces and try to create another piece of writing. Song: “Moonage Daydream”- The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars
Gemini – Queen of Cups- I hope last week you had a nice little fire with your Can’t Control list and your Can do list is on the wall. This week the Queen of Cups comes in to remind you that all work and no play or vice versa brings imbalance. With your previous weeks cards I think you are still learning about keeping focus in your life it’s just now the challenge is to learn to add a little fun in to it. Song: “Diamond Dogs”- Diamond Dogs
Cancer – Knight of Rods- So the last week the challenge was to keep your head down and your eye on the prize. This week it is more of the same but with a bit of experimentation. The Knight of Rods challenges you to keep at what you are doing, but you might need to experiment and tweak things to make the ride a bit smoother. Song: “Sound and Vision”- Low
Leo – Four of Cups- The Four of Cup reminds you that everything is not as bleak as it seems. It’s just that you do not have all the emotional resources that you need to handle what’s going on around you. So it’s OK if you withdraw a bit this week to get your bearings. In fact, that is exactly what you need to do. The challenge is don’t get too introspective or apathetic – really, things are that bad. Song: “Everything’s Alright” – Pin Ups
*Virgo – Strength- So with the Strength this week , the World card last week and Mercury’s movements you still need to heed last week’s tarotcast: “You can’t control everything. You have enough. And you are enough. Now with Strength the emphasis is to know you are enough.” If you are having trouble finding that inner courage a great way to tap into it this week is to get into your body. That means exercise, feast, or even have sex. (Though if you’re single and not seeing someone regularly, do not start a romance during Mercury in retrograde it can lead to a on again- off again cycle. And everyone please be safe and responsible take care of your sexual protection. More simply put- ladies and dudes carry your own condoms and/or dental dams.) Song: “Space Oddity”- Space Oddity
Libra – Five of Swords-Five of Swords is an interesting card for Libras. Normally with Mercury in retrograde and any other sign, I would warn people that communication can be rough this week and to not get into arguments. Because Five of Swords asks- is it really that important to be right in these discourses? However, Libras are the kings and queens of wanting balance and harmony in their lives and in the lives of ones they love. So many times they will bend over backwards to keep the peace. The challenge for you then Libra is when you do give in to keep the peace- don’t use it to keep score. Song: “Kooks”- Hunky Dory
*Scorpio – Devil/Ace of Pentacles- OK, so here is the scoop. This happened a couple of weeks ago with Sagittarius. When I get two cards like this after a run of major arcane weeks I find that some people have done their homework and some people have not. So Scorpios for all of you that have not done their mental mantra for 2016 you have another week. The Devil represents lost focus which means go back and look at the last four tarotcast. The universe is giving you another chance which makes sense with Mercury in retrograde redo’s. Now for the rest of you, you all get to start on your new year with the Ace of Pentacles. With Mercury being in retrograde I wouldn’t start any new projects but this is a great time to strategizes and plan what you want to do for 2016. Song: “Heroes” – Heroes
Sagittarius – Three of Pentacles- Hey Sages. Well now it’s time to plant your feet in the ground and all that imagining you have been doing can now lead to goal setting. Now it’s time to see which dreams are realistic to tackle this year and then start to prioritize and strategize which item will be the first thing you check off this year’s to do list. Song: “Golden Years”- Station to Station
Capricorn – Four of Cups- So last week I hope you gained some distance from your thoughts to get perspective. This week you have a bit of the same with the Four of Cups. With Mercury in retrograde and the Four of Cups you will still need to gain some emotional distance from issues to gain perspective. The challenge is seeing the reason you can’t deal right now is because you do not have the emotional resources to be there for everyone this week. Realize that you will be back next week. so don’t feel guilty this week for pulling back . Song: “It Ain’t Easy”- The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders from Mars
Aquarius – Queen of Pentacles- I hope the past two weeks you have been able to tune into your environment for clues and help. With the Queen of Pentacles the cards are recommending this be a week of earthly indulgences. The Queen of Pentacles is challenging you to get grounded by doing things she loves: nature, art, good healthy food, nurturing- yourself and others, move your body, relax in a bath or with a good book and a cup of tea, etc… Song: “Eight Line Poem” – Hunky Dory
*Pisces – The Tower- So The Tower with Mercury in retrograde suggest that there will be some major breakdown in communication this week . However, the Tower’s lesson is that the foundation of the conversation is solid but how you are communicating is not working. So it is time to step back look at what really needs to be said and rework how to say it. Song: “The Pretty Things Are Going to Hell”-Hours
