Tarot and Art Forecast for Week of March 8, 2020

Emma Kunz was a healer and a reluctant artist.  She created these drawings by a process she called radiesthesia.  She used large pieces of graph paper, she would meditate visualizing a series of dots and lines and then with her pendulum beginning to draw the patterns with colored crayons and pencil.  Her drawings were not made as an artistic endeavor but to be used for medicinal purposes.  She often used them in her healing sessions.  Placing them between her and her patient as they visually walked through the designs.

Though now her work is seen as outsider minimalist art and has been displayed in galleries.  Her main body of work resides in a museum in Wurenlos, Germany.  She described her creative process as follows: Shape and form expressed as measurement, rhythm, symbol and transformation of figure and principle.

P.S. Remember signs with an * it a big week for you.  Pisces this is a perfect time to get an Astrological Tarot Reading for your coming year.  And Virgo it is your halfway mark for your birth year, so if you need a Planetary Reading for a check in now is the time.

Aries

Emma KunzThree of Swords – Sorrow is in the air this week. This is the ups and downs of being human.  However, this kind of sadness brings with it an opportunity for forgiveness and a step to begin moving on.  There are three things to learn with this suffering.  Learn them and a begin the journey anew feeling lighter and enlightened.

Taurus

Emma KunzSix of Swords – You have just gone through a rite of passage. However, the path still is in a misty haze but now is the time continue on.  Don’t get stuck in the miasma.  To move forward the energy suggests simplification.  Even though the future is not so easily seen, the lighter your load- the simpler the solutions -the easier your journey.

Gemini

Emma KunzFive of Swords – The aftermath of this past Mercury in retrograde still has its tendrils of chaos in your communication land.  The energy this week is still full of disagreements and concealment.  The best way to disengage with this dynamism is surrender and compromise.  The disputes are really about ego, resentment and not worth your time.

Cancer

Emma KunzAce of Swords – The energy in the beginning of this week has a sharp tone to it as we navigate out of this mercury retrograde.  This can lead to confusion and possible antagonism.  Situations cannot be dealt with by old ways of communicating.  Look for new ideas and ways to connect to bring clarity and eventually a breakthrough.

Leo

Emma Kunz*The Tower – The energy this week is about shaking things up.  Pay attention. There are some cracks in your foundation, and they need to be tended to.  This can look as simple as eating better, getting 8 hours of sleep, or being more efficient with your time because you are overly critical or trying to fit into “normal” work hours.  To build stronger does not always mean with stagnate forces like brick and concrete, bamboo is strong and flexible. To go through an earthquake buildings are now being built on springs.  Find new ways to shore up your foundations that are more innovative and adaptable.  For instance, work two days a week for 12 hours, 2 for 8 hours and then you can fit in a 3-day weekend or make a protein packed smoothie for that forgotten meal.

Virgo

Emma KunzFive of Cups – This week’s energy has an air of regret and pessimism to it. The key to navigating this energy is realizing you can help solve the world’s problems by solving the ones in front of you first.  Clean up some mess around you and be grateful for what you have that is not in disarray. The lesson is you seeing the left-over cups are half full and ready to be filled to the brim.

Libra

Emma KunzSeven of Cups – When was the last time you laid around just daydreaming- letting your imagination flow?  The energy this week is allowing and advising you to do just that.   Your challenge is letting yourself dream big enough. To help with this process, instead of thinking of dreams as illusions and fantasy, see them as seeds spreading out in the wind planting mystery plants of unknown bounty.

Scorpio

Emma KunzEight of Swords – The energy this week highlights where you are being wronged.  Whether this is self-affliction or allowing others to entrap you, this is the time for self-compassion about you allowing the harassment and strength to walk away from it without engaging in anger.  The situation is like a Chinese Finger trap the more you struggle the more you are entrapped, but if you disengage in the fight you can get out of the bindings of it.

Sagittarius

Two of Swords – Once Mercury goes out of retrograde on the 9th or 10th depending on where you are at, it will be time to make some choices. The challenge is thinking that the choice will solve the problem.  However, this week is about moving out of stagnation and avoidance and walking into the journey of discovery.

Capricorn

Knight of Wands – This week’s energy is all about adventure.  Take to the road, try new places, things to eat, look around for inspiration outside your normal environment.  The more you step out of the mundane the more you will get in touch with your passion, your joie de vie.

Aquarius

Queen of Swords – Last week change was in the air, but it was and is slow in coming. You were advised to take time to weed and till your soul’s soil.  Clearing blocks from your forward moment so the Universe has a clearer path to create the change that you are wanting and waiting for.  Well, lucky you this week’s energy gives you unbiased thoughts, clearer solutions and honest ideas to do just that.  The challenge is that it can come from not only your subconscious (look to your day and night dreams for clues), but it also can come from outside sources.  So, ears on and mind open Aquarius.  Focus on details not the big picture.

Pisces

*Lovers – You are at a crossroads in a relationship.  The energy around this week is making choices that involve, self-love, commitment and/or separation.  To truly be harmonious in a relationship you must love yourself first and then work on being your best self.  This is also true of the other person in the relationship. But they have free will and it is their responsibility alone to do that growth.  So, this energy reminds you that relationships are work and advises love yourself and the other enough to see that creation and growth can happen, but it is up to both of you to decide whether that is together or apart.

May light be on you, around you, and within you,

Nina

Tarot and Art Forecast for Week of March 1, 2020

Marc-Le-Cornu_Infinity-Eight-Aerial photography
Marc LeCornu Infinity-Eight

This week I continue the theme of flying with a glimpse into aerial photography.  Aerial photography not only open ours eyes and mind to a unique perspective but it gives us a sense of awe of how we and our world are part of a bigger construct.

The highlight of this genre is the Drone Awards, which are now looking for submission for 2020.  This is a worldwide competition about aerial photography that is now on its third year.  This competition though called Drone Awards includes a variety of platforms, fixed wing aircraft, helicopters, balloons, blimps, rockets, kites, parachutes and drones.  The winners are showcased at the exhibition Above Us Only Sky held in Siena in October.

Aerial Photography has been around since the 1860’s when James Wallace Black photographed Boston from a hot-air balloon.  The first drone or at the time called quadcopter was created by Jacques and Louis Bregut in 1907.  However, its limitations of being unsteerable and requiring 4 men to steady it, it only lifted two feet off the ground.  The first pilotless winged craft came about 10 years later and of course was evolved for warfare.  However, by 1960 with the breakthroughs in transistor technology decreasing the size of RC planes, unmanned aircraft became big with hobbyists.  By 2010 the AR Drone released by the French company Parrot, where the drone is controlled via WIFI using a smart phone.  This breakthrough has created a boon in amazing aerial photographs and videos.

P.S. Remember signs with an * it a big week for you.  Pisces this is a perfect time to get an Astrological Tarot Reading for your coming year.  And Virgo it is your halfway mark for your birth year, so if you need a Planetary Reading for a check in now is the time.

Aries

King of Wands – This week’s energy is boosting your abilities of envisioning a brighter future and the intentions that you will need to lay the foundation to manifest it.  However, we are still not out of the woods with Mercury in retrograde which slows creation, but by the end of the week you can start moving your visions into manifestations.

Taurus

The Messenger – Where last week the world was harsh and unsupportive, this week the messenger comes with divine signs to guide your way through the chaos.  The other perk with this energy is it will protect you from the turmoil if you don’t jump into it.  Remember you always have choice, but at least the best choice will be well lit.

Gemini
Tuan Nguyen Tan- Burden Salt Harvest

Seven of Coins – The energy this week is all about perseverance.  If you keep your nose to the grindstone and do your due diligence you will reap your just rewards.  However, if you don’t do the preparational work, you will increase your workload and cause delays throughout this week.

Cancer
Yevhen Samuchenko 2 people-2 dogs and 4 shadows

Knight of Coins – Slow and steady is the energy to work with this week.  Go after your responsibilities one step at a time.  Patience is key.  Don’t rush; find a comfortable stride and continue on.

Leo
Khanh Phan – Flowers on the Water

Four of Cups – Well Mercury is still in retrograde until the 6th so last week’s Hanged Man, low or inert energy, is still hanging around with the Four of Cups – withdrawal and meditation. So, this is another week to catch up on anything already in progress or contemplate your next steps.  The skill you are honing is acceptance and utilization of the low energy weeks as much as those fiery energies you so love to dive into.

Virgo
Aerial photography
Jacek Deneka_A Shoal of Colorful Fish

Seven of Swords – This week’s energy has a hazy deception in the air.  First you need to realize that Mercury is still in retrograde, so miscommunication and an inertia prosper during this time.   Second, this energy has nothing to do with you, if you don’t get involved in other’s drama or even let your own pessimism get in the way.  You do not have to be the moral police 24/7.  This energy is best dealt with by seeing the small victories instead of everything looking like a hundred-year war.

Libra
Aerial photography

King of Cups – Compassion is key to this week’s energy.   And here are some key points to remember.  You can not control everything.  You and most people are doing the best they can.  Situations and problems do balance out in the long view. And finally go with the flow with an open heart.

Scorpio
Aerial photography
Ming Li_Waltz of Overpass

Page of Cups – This is your second page so let’s look closer at the page energy.  Pages represent learning or coming at situations with a more open viewpoint.  Last week your passion needed reigniting so finding new ways to light your soul was key.  This week the Page of Cups wants you to view the world with more curiosity and love.  Seeing the world with rose-colored glasses actually open up more opportunities for you this week.

Sagittarius
Aerial photography

Seven of Cups – The energy this week is murky and full of illusions and misconceptions.  This is mostly due to Mercury still being in retrograde, so misinterpretation and self-misrepresentation still abounds.  This is not a week to make any decisions, but it is a great week do delve into fantasies and dreams. However, beware that you don’t try to bring your fantasies into the light of day.  These visions are just for enjoyment and expanding your mind to otherworldly possibilities.  They can plant seeds of potential for the future but not probability of the present.

Capricorn
Ningtai-Yu_Love-in-the-poem

Nine of Swords – This week’s energy is all about letting go.  Letting go of controlling every aspect of your life.  This is a hard one for you Capricorn especially because this year is so full of forward momentum.  But to cope with all the possibilities, all the positive energy, and all the hope, you must stop trying to control it all.  Worry will get you nowhere – not this week nor this year.

Aquarius

*Death – Change is in the air, but it is slow in coming. Mercury is still in retrograde until the end of the week.  You cannot rush the universe, nor do you want to.  As they say there is a season… Take this time to weed and till your soul’s soil.  Trying to rush the change is due to a fear or a resistance on your part.  Take this week to look at your possible blocks and clear those from the road so the Universe has a clearer path to create the change that you are wanting and waiting for.

Pisces

Three of Swords – Mercury is still in retrograde until the end of the week.  This energy feels as if you are bound to the assignment of Sisyphus – rolling a rock up a hill to only see it roll down time after time.  This week feels as if you are in a seemingly endless cycle of triumph and sorrow.  The key to working with this energy, if you feel stuck, move on to the next task and come back to “the rock” another day.

May light be on you, around you, and within you,

Nina

Tarot and Art Forecast for Week of Feb 23, 2020

Faith Ringgold Tar beach
Faith Ringgold Tar Beach

We all at some point in our lives have flying dreams.  Dream experts believe that flying dreams represent control, new perspectives, freedom and/or escape.  One of my favorite children’s book is Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold.  It is about an eight-year-old girl, Cassie, in Harlem.  Not only does this loosely autobiographical book give the reader a glimpse into Harlem circa 1939 but it inspires us to transcend and soar.   As Ringgold writes it’s very easy, anyone can fly. All you need is somewhere to go that you can’t get to any other way.

Ringgold is an accomplished artist and activist.  She started in tradition oil paintings but by 1970 she began experimenting with painting acrylic on unstretched canvas with fabric borders, much like the Tibetan Thangkas (silk paintings with embroidery).  She expanded this technique to her painted narrative quilts which she is now most famous for.  Her pieces are usually heavy in symbolism and full of historical references of African American culture.

P.S. Remember signs with an * it a big week for you.  Pisces this is a perfect time to get an Astrological Tarot Reading for your coming year.  And Virgo it is your halfway mark for your birth year, so if you need a Planetary Reading for a check in now is the time.

Aries
Faith Ringgold Seven Passages to Flight

Five of Cups – Last week’s energy came to help you destroy the edifices that bind you, and strengthen your resolve to create new structures (time, space and how use your energy) that will sustain the work that needs to be done.  You are going to need those structures to ground you this week from the chaotic emotional energies whirling internally and externally.  The goal to traversing these waters is within each wave of churning emotion is a pearl of wisdom and truth.

Taurus
Faith Ringgold The In Crowd

Ten of Swords – Well Mercury is in retrograde and you might be feeling the barbs.  This week’s energy can bring on confrontation if you are not mindful of your intuition warning you to duck.  If the hairs on the back of your neck raise up or you get a tingling feeling not to broach a subject or walk down that street, follow that warning.  People and your environment can be sharp this week. Your challenge is to be aware of your triggers and avoid the clashes.

Gemini

Four of Swords – The energy this week is all about rest and healing.  This energy warns you that your immune system, soul and mind needs rest.  Take time to pull away from the maddening crowd (this includes social media) and relax.

Cancer
Faith Ringgold subway mosaic in Harlem

Two of Swords – Making choices or at least feeling as if you must are in the air this week; however we are in the midst of a Mercury in retrograde. The key to this week is not focusing on the decisions you feel you need to make, but about faith in yourself.  Whatever you decide or not decide you will end up where you should be. This week go with the flow.

Leo
Faith Ringgold

*Hanged Man – With Mercury in retrograde you might find it difficult to go forward.  But this week that will work in your favor.  This is great energy to catch up on anything already in progress or contemplate your next steps.  A break in the action when used correctly can feel like a breakthrough.

Virgo
Faith Ringgold Maya Quilt of Life

King of Swords – The energy this week is best used by planning for the long term.  Though it doesn’t actively move you into the future it does want you to gain perspective and/or a clear focus on the future and how to get there.  This is a great week for planning out the rest of the year or five.

Libra
Faith Ringgold Hide Little Children

Six of Cups – This energy is best used in play.  Get down on the floor with a child and challenge your perspective of time, work and space.  This isn’t about being naïve but about being open to seeing the world with a more inquisitive viewpoint.

Scorpio
Faith Ringgold Tar Beach II

Page of Wands – Your passion needs reigniting.  When this energy shows up it is telling you that your soul’s spark, the reason you get up in the morning- i.e. your purpose(s), is waning.  Take this week to do things that set your soul on fire. Nature and the arts are great venues to help you re-discover why you are here.

Sagittarius
Faith Ringgold

Page of Swords – The last two weeks the energies have been around freedom, newness and metamorphosis.  Now with Mercury fully in retrograde you are giving this time to decipher what has been going on in your outer life and inner mind.  This energy foretells there is information to help you solve a problem or two. But it will take subtle and persistent inquiry to find it, for the truth is hidden by half-truths and denial.  The key is being kind with your queries both to yourself and to others.

Capricorn
Faith Ringgold, Coming to Jones Road Part II: Our Secret Wedding in the Woods, photography by Benjamin Westoby

Four of Wands – Last week the energy was about expanding your horizons by integrating your inner and outer worlds.  Diving into the energy and concept of interconnectedness.  You are building on the old world and creating a new paradigm.   So, to move to this new music you must let the composition enter you, let your body and soul find the new rhythm, and then dance.  That energy is still reverberating through this week.  But this energy focuses you on creating a foundation that is more fluid and more accepting of stress. Think of being more like bamboo then like an oak.

Aquarius
Faith Ringgold Sunflower Quilting Bee at Arles

Eight of Wands – Now that you know that 2020 is about igniting new passions, new ways of being on the physical plane, and bringing the divine down into reality.  That definition of divine is of, from or like God, excellent or delightful.  So, 2020 will be a year where new not only grows, prospers but lifts others with delight.  This week is about starting to send out those messages and inquires to the world.  However, since this week Mercury is in retrograde, its not about starting these new projects but more like sending out feelers to see what might bite.  The more arrows you let fly the more likely you will hit upon illuminations.

Pisces
Faith Ringgold

Five of Swords – Mercury in retrograde is creating chaos and you with a few other signs are being affected by it.  Chaos has a way of being attracted to you this week, so the challenge is not reacting to other people’s yuckness.  Your hackles can easily be triggered. The solution is putting on soothing music, light some incense/sage and escape when necessary.

May light be on you, around you, and within you,

Nina

Tarot and Art Forecast for Week of Feb 16, 2020

Gwendolyn BennettPoetry has its own way of inspiring visuals.  This week I am adding to your sign’s forecast a line from the poem To a Dark Girl (1927) by Gwendolyn Bennett.  To read the whole poem just read the first line in bold for each sign.

Bennett was an influential person and contributor in the Harlem Renaissance Movement.  She was a painter, poet, and writer in a variety of journals and anthologies such as NAACP’s The Crisis and Caroling Dusk, and she published a monthly column called The Ebony Flute. For more on her history and work read Heroine of the Harlem Renaissance and Beyond

The Harlem Renaissance was centered in Harlem New York during the decade of the 1920s. It was an intellectual, social, and artistic eruption. This era was a turning point in American black cultural history. This congregation and congruence of African American writers and artists created the momentum to gain control over their representation of black culture and experience and was the beginning of these artists and thinkers to be recognized in Western Art world.

P.S. Remember signs with an * it a big week for you.  Aquarius this is a perfect time to get an Astrological Tarot Reading for your coming year.  And Leo it is your halfway mark for your birth year, so if you need a Planetary Reading for a check in now is the time.

Aries

I love you for your brownness,

*Hierophant – What structures in your life are holding you back?  The energy this week helps you destroy the edifices that bind you, and it strengthens your resolve to create new structures (time, space and how use your energy) that will sustain the work that needs to be done.  This can look as simple as waking up earlier to eat breakfast, or as complex as getting your job to let you work from home once a week.

Taurus

And the rounded darkness of your breast,

Nine of Cups – Last week’s energy wanted you to bring the divine down into the world. Tapping into your spirit and calling it into action. The energy this week continues this theme of the divine, but it asks you is your work ethic getting in the way of your spirit and joy?  Your contentment? Don’t forget the divine has you here to work your purpose, but following your joy sustains you.

Gemini

I love you for the breaking sadness in your voice

Seven of Wands – Last week’s energy was best used in building on what already is existing.  This week you will have to defend your boundaries to get anything done.  Work still needs to happen, so put up you do not disturb sign and get back into your groove.

Cancer

And shadows where your wayward eyelids rest.

Six of Coins – Karma is the key energy this week.  Take heed in your actions and reactions.  For all the positive you give, positive will return; however, this energy flow happens with negative forces too.  The trick with this card is that the return energy does not always come back directly from the intended source.  So watch for curve balls, lower expectations and be nice.

Leo

Something of old forgotten queens

Six of Swords – You need a bit of distance to gain some perspective this week.  So, when meeting a challenge, step back, dissect the issue, simplify and go back in.  The main take away to handling this week is physical space even if its just an extra 5 minutes in the bathroom.

Virgo

Lurks in the lithe abandon of your walk

Three of Wands – Last week the energy was about organic change.  Asking you to start on your spring cleaning, getting rid of things that are dead weight in your life.  And, it asked you to plant some seeds by tasking you to write down 50 things you wish for, big or small.  Lucky you, you get another week to do this prep work.  The only challenge this energy is thinking bigger and broader horizons in your wishing.

Libra

And something of the shackled slave

Ace of Swords – With all that heart work last week the energy has done a 180 degree turn from your heart to your mind and ways of thought.   Hopefully, now that you have reconnected with your emotions you can clearly see the direction you need to take this week with problems and their solutions.

Scorpio

Sobs in the rhythm of your talk.

Queen of Cups – Last week’s energy was rough and hopefully you got to dodge most of it.  But you might find yourself a bit tender and vulnerable.   However, this is not to week to hide in the shadows.  Go out find solace in your friends and people who love you.  Refill your cup.

Sagittarius

Oh, little brown girl, born for sorrow’s mate,

*Judgment – Last week the energy circled around freedom and newness.  Reminding you that exploring the world is part of what drives your soul.  Discovery is key to bringing new ideas and stimulating your sensualities.  If you did well with that task last week, you are ready to deal with this week’s energy of metamorphosis.  If you didn’t investigate new avenues you might find this week has growing pains with your evolution.  This can be as simple as you found a new route to work which gives you 10 more minutes in the morning to eat breakfast.  Or it can be as complex as not finding that new avenue which stops you dead in your tracks, and you hang upside down spinning a large cocoon around yourself until you solve your challenges and changes.

Capricorn

Keep all you have of queenliness,

*World – The energy this week is about expanding your horizons by integrating your inner and outer worlds.  Dive into the energy and concept of interconnectedness.  You have just completed a major work and/or turned a significant corner in your life and now you need time integrating this accomplishment into your consciousness.  You are building on the old world and creating a new paradigm.   So, to move to this new music you must let the composition enter into you, let your body and soul find the new rhythm, and then dance.

Aquarius

Forgetting that you once were slave,

*Magician – Ok this is your last birth month card and the Magician has shown up to add to the energy of the Aces, new beginnings.  So, let’s review, 2020 ignites new passions and new ways of being on the physical plane.  Then the Magician steps in adding its big energy of bringing the divine down into reality.  This energy begs for you to start new projects/jobs, create, imagine, and experiment in the coming year. The big challenge is that these creations must have an aspect of the divine.  The definition of divine is of, from or like God, excellent or delightful.  So, 2020 will be a year where new not only grows, prospers but lifts others with delight.

Pisces

And let your full lips laugh at Fate!

Ten of Coins – The energy this Ten brings is satisfaction from the work you have completed. This week is a transition of completion and new beginnings. This week spend time just enjoying the gifts that you have worked so hard to get.  Set your gratefulness into your bones to strengthen positive reverberations for the next cycle to ride.

May light be on you, around you, and within you,

Nina

Tarot and Art Forecast for Week of Feb 9, 2020

Australian animals
Grey headed flying fox

Above are Grey-headed flying foxes and they are suffering due to climate change ie fire and summers temperatures over 100 degrees.  As you know the fire season in Australia has just begun.  Luckily due to some rain the raging fires of January are subsiding, but now the area needs help in rebuilding the habitats of Eastern Australia.  Above and below are some cute baby pictures of native Australian animals that are endangered due to the fires.

Many of these animals are unique to this continent.  Seventy percent of our marsupial cousins and all monotremes are found only in Australia. Marsupials are mammals that give birth to relatively undeveloped babies therefore carrying them around in pouches to nurse them.  Monotremes are mammals that lay eggs but still suckle their young.

Ten of Swords – This week the energy is gnarly, and you can be easily triggered by it.  People are just not getting you, so best to walk away from situations when you feel the tension.  Defend yourself if you must.  However, the more you let yourself get triggered, the more pokey conversations and actions will be on both sides.

Capricorn

Aquarius

Ace of Coins – The energy of beginnings continues for your birth month.  This week the focus turns from passions to grounding them into reality.  What schedule fits your circadian rhythms?  List the foods that empower and refresh you.  What are your skill sets?  What new skill sets will you need to make your dreams come true?   By answering these questions, you can fertilize the seeds to create more opportunities where your passions can flower.  This is another great card to begin your new birth year.  So far 2020 will be a year where new not only grows but prospers.

Pisces

Tarot and Art Forecast for Week of Feb 2, 2020

A Golden Ray of Hope by Eva Camacho

The beginning of 2020 has been a bit rough with fires, plague, a variety of governments in turmoil and corruption.  The art of Eva Camacho brings many of these injustices to the forefront, but she also gives us hope. The piece above, A Golden Ray of Hope, and her words below are just what my soul and maybe yours needs to hear to carry on.

Worry, loss, sadness, injustice, desperation, tears, incredulity, uncertainty and pain can sap us of our will to carry on. Camacho started out as a designer of felted garments and gave it up to hone her skills into conceptual art pieces mostly around social and environmental justice. Even though her pieces take on heavy injustices, the technique she uses, and her designs show us that even in the presence of hardship that we can mend bind together and grow.   She has combined her felting wool with the process of Joomchi.   Joomochi is an centuries old Korean technique working with Mulberry fibers to create sculptural paper.  The pieces below are just close ups of her stuff please click to her site to see the full display.

Tarot and Art Forecast for Week of Jan 19, 2020

RaeSwon hat

Two weeks ago I highlighted the art of Eileen Agar a surreal artist that was the first to merge surrealism and fashion with her ceremonial hats.  This week’s artist RaeSwon resonates Agar’s wit in her felted hat creation.  The first know hat was found on Otzi, a bronze age man dated around 3250 BC.  Hats were believed to be worn to cool or heat a person.  However, only 50 years later in an Egyptian tomb painting, a straw hat was worn for status or ceremonial reasons.  Now hats are worn for protection from weather conditions, safety, status, rank, ceremonially and/or fashion.

Felting and hats have a long history that started in ancient Greece, the pielus.  Felting from wool is the oldest known textile. There are two ways to make felt.  Wet felting is applying hot water to layers of animal hair and then agitating and compressing the fibers, so they hook together.  This method causes the scales on the hair to open up and the agitation latches them together.  Where needle felting is done by stabbing a barbed needle into animal fibers to tangle and hook them together. RaeSwon uses both techniques to make her very imaginative millinery.

P.S. Remember signs with an * it a big week for you.  Aquarius this is a perfect time to get an Astrological Tarot Reading for your coming year.  And Leo it is your halfway mark for your birth year, so if you need a Planetary Reading for a check in now is the time.

RaeSwon hatSeven of Wands – Last week, the energy was about experimentation with the tools and skills you already have in your arsenal. Creating without purpose and exploring what comes from it.  This week to continue doing that, you are going to need to defend your rights to experiment, create and explore. Stand up for yourself.  Your mantra:  I not only have the right to stand up for myself, but I have the responsibility. I can’t ask somebody else to stand up for me if I won’t stand up for myself. And once you stand up for yourself, you’d be surprised that people say ‘Can I be of help? – Maya Angelou

*Fool – Adventure and new beginnings are the energies to work with this week.  Itch feet? Go wandering.  Bored? Partake in something you have never done.  Melancholy? Watch silly movies all week.  Feeling old? Go swing on a swing set or have a snowball fight.  Feeling naïve? Go learn something new.  This week newness is the key to rekindling your faith and joy of life.

Sagittarius

RaeSwon hat*Hermit – This week’s energy is getting some much-needed alone time.  You need space and perspective.  And the only way you are going to find it is setting up a sacred space and time. It would be great if you could do a little retreat from your life.  But if you can’t do that. This can be done simple by taking the long way home, taking the bus instead of your car, going on silly errands solo, turning off your phone for 2 hours, or eating outside for lunch.  The key to obtaining this is telling people that you are turning off your phone from 2-3 hours each day, going to be late coming home, or gone for the week.  Because if people don’t see your proverbial do not disturb sign on the window, they will bug you to find out why.

Capricorn

Knight of Wands – Ok I warned you. I hope you rested last week because the energy this week is getting on your horse and riding it the next destination and doing it with some flair.  First this energy says you are in the right space at the right time all this week, if you can work with this fiery energy. You must willfully reign in your aspirations and steer them to your desired goals without extinguishing your passion.

RaeSwon hatKnight of Pentacles – Last week’s energy was about saying yes to opportunities coming at you from unexpected places and learning that saying yes doesn’t mean forever.  This energy likes you to try out new things so you can find what best fits the new you. This week’s energy continues the theme of moving forward into new worlds.  However, staying open is now focusing down to only areas of work, how you make your money and/or hands-on projects.  This is a great time to work on to-do lists and to get far with any plans, while being open to new input.  The challenge this week is working this as a marathon not a series of sprints.  So, hydrate and feed yourself at regular intervals.

Pisces

Queen of Swords – Details are the focus this week.  This energy is best utilized by examining the specifics of situations and boning up on your communication skills.  If you come up to a block, asking questions, deep listening and overall communication will lead you out of any maze.
