Happy Julian/Gregorian Calendar New Year week everyone! I find the history of recording time fascinating. Throughout time we as humans have tried to come up with ways to standardize it. Our western calendar was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582 to help fix Easter’s drift in the Julian calendar with its correlation to the Spring Equinox. Another fun fact is that the last European country to adopt the Gregorian calendar was Greece in 1923. That took 341 years. [more or less ;)] for the western countries to get on the same page. I find that the Islamic calendar much more intuitive since it’s lunar based, and I find day light savings time irritating antiquated. But the thing I love is that recording time is still a manner of perspective.
P.S. Remember signs that have * it’s a big week for you.
*Aries – The Tower- So the beginning and end of your year starts with The Tower. If there was ever a time when the Tower is appropriately timed is during the week of the New Year. The Tower’s lesson is the foundations of your life, morals, are in good shape but you need to tear down the old structures that are not working for you. So this week spend some time looking at what old habits are just not working anymore and make some new year resolutions to create some new structures in your life.
Taurus – Nine of Pentacles- This week the Nine of pentacles recommends for you to spend some time alone. If you can get just an hour or two off by yourself, you will find that this will not only reset your mind from the holidays but give you some insight into your new year goals.
*Gemini – The Devil- Ok Gemini first on a mundane note with the Devil, be careful while partying this New Years the key word is moderation in all things. Then on a more spiritual note this is a good time to look at the things that distracted you last year from getting some things done. If you can identify where, when and the how you lost focus, when it comes up again in the new year you will be a lot less tempted to follow the rabbit down the hole.
*Cancer – The Empress- What a lovely card to get for the New Year. The Empress is all about creation. What do you want to create in your new year that will make you feel nurtured and comfortable to generate what you want into the world? The challenge can you envision your best future outside the boundaries of what you think is possible?
Leo – Page of Cups- So Leos you will get another week to work on your jadedness. The Page of Cups is asking you to start your new year with a fresh outlook on your life and the world. It is time to put on those rose color glasses of youth. What you see will put a smile on your face and see maybe there is some truth behind your new rosy outlook.
Virgo – Ace of Pentacles- So you all are right on track. With the Ten of Swords last week representing the endings of cycles of worries and thoughts, especially ones around people who do not have your back. This week is all about beginnings. The Ace represent new beginnings and pentacles represent the material plan. This is a great week to think up and start new projects.
Libra – Knight of Pentacles- I hope you took time last week to really enjoy yourself Libra. This week with the Knight of Pentacles you are back up on your work horse ready to get some things done. And this week it is pretty easy to do it. Your challenge however still is to take time this week to stop and smell the roses. The knights always remind us it’s not the destination but the journey that bring you joy.
*Scorpio – Justice- Did you find your mental mantra for the new year? Well with The Justice card you have another week to fine tune it. With the challenge being does the mantra bring you a feeling of being centered and balanced? If not back to the drawing board. If it does then start working with it this week by writing it multiple times or create an art project around it. Because this mantra will help make everything fall into place next year.
Sagittarius – Seven of Cups- This week the Seven of Cups is asking you to use that amazing imagination that you all have. Take time this week to think up some new ideas, projects, ways to have fun for your new year. The challenge is to think outside the box. (Which for Sags – not so hard for you all to do).
Capricorn – Six of Rods- I hope you all created some structure and support in your life that helps and encourages you to become a better you. This week the Six of Rods challenge is for you to take sometime this week and look at all you have accomplished the past year. Then put a gold star on your mirror to remind you that you DO get shit done.
Aquarius – Five of Cups- This week the Five of Cups is challenging you to look for three things that drain your emotional energy. I think if you really look at them you will find you can’t do anything to change them. So the best thing to do is to find a way to let them go, then look for the positives in your life, pick those up and walk to the new year only holding them.
Pisces – Ten of Pentacles- What a great card to end and begin a year. Tens represent the ending of a cycle and pentacles represent the material world. So Pisces look around and notice all that you are grateful for in the past year. The challenge is if you feel like you are missing something make that a priority in the new year.
