Happy Birthday month Leo!
Many artists use their art to investigate who they are. This week’s artist is surrealist Remedios Varo (1908-1963). Varo used her art, intellect, and curiosity to investigate and understand her dichotomous upbringing, diverse and war-weary history, nonconformist ideas of gender and spirituality, and inner landscapes of her mind. In her youth, her father, an engineer, spurred her to read sciences and fantasy books and learn mechanical drawing. Where her Mother a devout Catholic sent her to convent school. This possible opposing theme of science versus spirituality becomes her most prominent motif in her art.
You can see in her art how she tried to conjoin the conflicting topics of occult/science, human/machine, and conscious/subconscious, to name a few. Her paintings gave Varo a safe place to revolt from the restrictions of her Mother’s Catholicism, and the male dominated Surrealist movement. Remedios elevated the woman figure from object to subject. The subjects of her paintings became version of herself evolving into gender-neutral characters in surrealistic dreamscapes. Varo’s landscapes gave the parts of her – artist, mystic, scientist and spiritual being – a place to express and explore her and ultimately the viewer’s multidimensional character. That is the amazing thing that art aids us in, our investigation of the age-old question: Who am I.

King of Cups– Last week the Hierophant declared a theme for 2019-2020 – organization and structure. This week the King of Cups ask you to put responsibility aside and celebrate your birth. This King rules your emotional well-being, and he wants you to party, fall deeply in love, fill your cups and enjoy life overall. The only caution with this Bacchian vibe is be careful of overindulgence.

Nine of Pentacles – The Nine of Pentacles advice, this is a good week to get things accomplished and easier if you spend your productive time alone. This is not calling for you to be totally isolated but when or if you decide to invite others in choice wisely. Outsiders can be a distraction to your efficiency.

King of Pentacles – Last week, The Death card declared it was great time to start the ball rolling to create change in places that have bottom out, dead-ended or ran out of oomph. The goal was and is to weed out the dead growth so new things can grow in its stead. This week the King of Pentacles gives you a bit more control on the process and outcome than last week. Where last week was more go with the flow, this week is more hands on. This card brings with it the momentum to finish up or clean out projects that have spilled over from last week. The challenge is still not to start anything new but to finish up or build upon the old.

Two of Wands – The Two of Wands declares this week’s energy is best used in planning for the future. Ten of Cups – Your second Ten, so let’s dive a bit into what Ten means. Tens are perfect for completing cycles and that you enjoy and bask in that completion before moving on. Last week the Ten of Pentacles advised you to finish up a physical project and then relax your body. This Week the Ten of Cups adds the emotional relaxation to the physical. Re-calibration for satiation and ease was your motto in all things. Well the theme of balancing continues with the Six of Pentacles. However, this card has you balancing karma and debts. Take this week to pay off your debts and fill it with good deeds. This positivism (or negativism if you choose) will come back to you threefold in the coming months.
Queen of Pentacles – The Queen of Pentacles comes when you need to enjoy the life you have worked so hard to get. This is a great time to take a vacation, have a spa day, go out to your favorite restaurant. Indulge this week, you not only need it – you deserve it.
Eight of Cups – Last week, the Emperor came reminding you that you have a good foundation, but you need to start building to the next level. This week the Eight of Cups continues this theme of building but it is challenging you to release a few things. You need the room to build more into your life. Whether that is cleaning out some closet space or cleaning out some heart space, you got to dump out some of the old to pour in some of the new.
Five of Wands – The Five of Wands is the card of chaos. This week you need to watch where you take things that can create disharmony. For example, instead of thinking that someone is arguing with you – think of it as creative differences or that you are able to see a perspective outside of your normal or societies thought patterns. The Eclipses are still reverberating through my life. So, I couldn’t do my regular research into art and/or science. This week I pulled a variety of my favorite art from my visual inspirations folder to share.
Nine of Wands – The Nine of Wands foretells that preparation is the name of the game. This week no new action is advised. You can prepare for future events and replenish your supplies – physical and mental. The challenge with this card is perseverance. You got grit – keep persisting.
Three of Pentacles – The Three of Pentacles says you have your work cut out for you this week. You will have the energy and tenacity to maintain a steady pace. However, your challenge is asking for help, so your project can meet your expectations. This is a week where more heads and arms are better than one.
*Hierophant – The Hierophant is the card of structure and institutions. Your influence this week can be far-reaching. Your challenge is honing your skills on how you can teach and support others. A good teacher not only teaches the skills required, but also the reason why the skill or process is needed. Correspondingly, your biggest challenge is allowing mistakes to be made as part of the learning process. Your motto this week when guiding, maintain your flexibility- be more like bamboo than brick wall.

*Emperor – The Emperor card comes when it is time to do the work. This is a card of business and wheeling and dealing. He reminds you that you are have a good foundation, but you need to build to the next level. Whether that is as simple as taking on more responsibility at work, networking to create more business partners or actual building something with your hands. This week is great for further projects on the material plane. The only challenge with this card is while your building your empire make sure you are doing it for the good of all.
Three of Wands – The Three of Wands advises to do a bit of future planning for short term goals. Also, a good time to reassess if your short-term goals and to-dos align with long-term dreams and desires.
Queen of Cups – The last two weeks Judgement the card of evolution challenged you to awaken and make the big move to totally change your life. Then the Moon, card of emotions and subconscious, challenged you around your triggers, but to use the Moon’s energies to have major break throughs. The Queen of Cups continues this theme of emotions, but has you focus solo on compassion. Compassion for others but also more importantly to yourself. All triggers are places of healing and evolution. Please, remember the solar eclipse on July 2nd in your sister sign of Cancer and then the Lunar eclipse in Capricorn on July 16th are both playing with big energies for the next two and half weeks. Tread lightly with yourself during this time.
Two of Wands – The Two of Wands advise you to dream about your desires and plan your goals to acquire them. This is a week where dreaming bigger and farther out is important to start the Universe in its cocreation of your future opportunities. Ask yourself where do you want to be in 5 and 10 years from now? The Universe is listening.
Three of Swords – Last week the Magician, card of materialization said you have all the tools you will need to get things accomplished. Secondly, it advised you to tap into your intuition or gut to navigate the best process to transform your creations onto the material plane. And then thirdly, said you have the willpower to manifest what you want in the world if it has a divine purpose. Now the Three of Swords warns that self-doubt might rear its ugly head to thwart your plans. This card advises you these thoughts are solely based on untruths that were told to you in the past. This week is a time to heal old wounds and believe that you are stronger than you think.
Knight of Cups – The last two weeks you have been dipping in and out of the spotlight. First the Sun card brought a sense of accomplishment and energy for getting things done, growing healthier, and succeeding in new ways. Then the Hermit advised you the opposite by pulling away from society the next week you could be more productive. This week the Knight of Cups has you back in society’s fray. This card is all about being the social butterfly and sharing your love. Enjoy the company of people this week. Not only will they bring you energy but also connect you to your emotions and heart.
Four of Pentacles – The Four of Pentacles has you focusing on your resources and how you spend them. This week your time, attention and money will be limited so use them wisely.
Nine of Cups – The Nine of Cups is the card of contentment. Take this week to focus and feed the activities and people that bring a smile to your face. Do things that are satisfying and pleasurable. This week smile – life is good.
Queen of Wands – To embody this Queen you need to reconnect with your passion, awe and joy. All Wands advise that nature be part of this process. Mother Earth is calling for you to get out and hang with her this week. She will help you reconnect to who you are, inspire your creativity and ignite your desires. Due to the Eclipses, see intro above, these next two and half weeks hold a lot of power. Use wisely.
Three of Cups – The Three of Cups is the card of friendship. The best way to gather this card’s energy is to hang with friends. Whether that is watching a game, going out to listen to music or going to your local pub, this week reconnect with your friends and they will fill your cups – literally and figuratively. 
Six of Swords – The Six of Swords advises the simplification of one’s thoughts by gaining perspective with distance. The best way to work with the energies this week is to strip the problem/ project down to the bone, step back and then rebuild.
Eight of Cups – Last week the Chariot challenged you to take the reins and create change in your life The Eight of Cups continues this theme but challenges you that to do it properly you will have to leave something behind. A great exercise with this energy is to go through drawers or closets and get rid of things that you no longer use.
Two of Wands – The Two of Wands is the card of the future. This is a great week to do some daydreaming and planning for what you would like to happen a month, a year and five years from now. If you don’t have dreams, then you have nothing to aspire and grow towards.
King of Pentacles – The King of Pentacles’ energy is do and build. This is a great week to tackle a project and get things done off your to-do list. The only challenge with this card is you will need to take charge if you are working with others without being bossy.
*Moon – Another big week for you all. Last week, Judgement the card of evolution challenged you to awaken and make the big move to totally change your life. This week the Moon the card of emotions and subconscious adds to that energy of progression. Therefore, this week might hold challenges around your triggers, but you can really focus the Moon’s energies to have major break throughs. Especially since you can charge this evolution with the might of the solar eclipse on July 2nd in your sister sign of Cancer and then the Lunar eclipse in Capricorn that is happening on July 16th. These next two and half weeks are big energy days for Cancers and Capricorns.
Page of Pentacles – The last two weeks, the Judgment card had you picking something you want to evolve in your life, and then the Star card gave you some time and space to adjust to this growth. This week with the Page of Pentacles’ energy things start to normalize if you let yourself be flexible and open minded. Come at this week with curiosity and the love of learning.
